Melissa Williams is the principal tubist with the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. She is a retired member of the faculty at Butler University’s Jordan College of the Arts in Indianapolis Indiana. Melissa taught low brass, coached chamber brass ensembles and maintained a large teaching studio at Butler for over 25 years. She also worked professionally as a freelance musician throughout the midwest. She was visiting professor at Murray State University and at University of Evansville.
Melissa Williams also serves as the principal tubist with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed with Indianapolis Symphony, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Muncie Symphony, Ft. Wayne Symphony Orchestra and the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra.
Melissa was a founding member of the Indianapolis Brass Choir under Delbert Dale. She has performed with Tom Aiken’s Brass Choir, and was a member of the Athena Brass Band, the Kentuckiana Brass Band and Percussion Ensemble. She was featured at the International Women’s Brass Conferences and the International Tuba Euphonium District Conferences. Melissa is from Loogootee, Indiana and was raised on a dairy farm with 7 siblings. She will be retiring this May and plans to travel, camp and do a little fishing.
