Owensboro, KY – The Owensboro Symphony is proud to announce Summer Salute: Dancing in the Street, a lively tribute to the timeless sounds of Motown. This free community celebration will take place on June 6, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at McConnell Plaza on the Owensboro riverfront.
The evening will feature Grammy Award–winning vocalists performing iconic hits by Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, The Temptations, and Stevie Wonder, alongside the Owensboro Symphony under the direction of Music Director Troy Quinn. Audiences can look forward to beloved favorites including Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Reach Out I’ll Be There, Dancing in the Street, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, My Girl, and Superstition.
Founded in 1959 by Berry Gordy Jr., Motown became synonymous with a signature blend of soul and pop that shaped generations of music. As Smokey Robinson once described it, “The Motown sound” was both spiritual and deeply rooted in the artists who created it. This special program celebrates the era’s unforgettable melodies and lasting cultural impact around the world.
Summer Salute is made possible through the generosity of the Daviess County Fiscal Court, with additional support from the City of Owensboro and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
General admission is free, with VIP table seating and dinner packages available for those seeking an enhanced concert experience.
