The Owensboro Symphony embarked on this project in early 2021 to record a performance in front of a live audience that would be broadcast on Kentucky Educational Television (KET). The concert featured Oscar winning and/or nominated film music. The program was full of memorable movie music from classics like The Godfather and La La Land. Eric Rigler, described as the world’s most recorded piper was featured during the concert. Rigler is known for his talents on playing bagpipes, Uilleann pipes and the tin whistle for many movie soundtracks including Braveheart, The Lord of the Rings, Titanic, Million Dollar Baby, Road to Perdition, and Cinderella Man.

Tanner+West directed and produced the program, which aired for the first time ever on KET in March 2023. After this debut KET announced the release of the program nationally. Since the world premier Owensboro Symphony Presents a Night at the Oscars has aired over 100 times in more than 16 states and Puerto Rico on 64 PBS affiliated TV stations. The potential audience reached in the last year alone has exceeded millions of individuals.

The Emmy winners will be announced on July 20 at the Ohio Valley Chapter’s 60th Annual Emmy Awards Gala in Lexington Kentucky.
