The Owensboro Symphony is excited to announce the return of its sixth annual Symphony Stroll, presented by Jagoe Homes, on Friday, October 3, from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
This year, this community favorite will take place in conjunction with the City of Owensboro’s Illuminate Art & Light Experience, bringing together the magic of music and lights throughout Downtown Owensboro and the beautiful Riverfront. Everyone from the community is invited to take a leisurely walk while enjoying live performances from a variety of Owensboro Symphony ensembles along with spectacular lights and visual elements.
“This event has become a highlight of our season because it brings friends and families together in such a beautiful and accessible way,” said Gwyn Payne, CEO. “We are so happy to join Illuminate this year and create an even more memorable experience for our community.”
Along the stroll this year, guests will encounter live music at every turn, paired with creative light displays that will bring the city to life:
- Percussion Group – energizing rhythms on the street near Pub on Second
- Candlelight Symphony – A nine piece string ensemble will transform the RiverPark Center lobby into a magical space with over 10,000 candles and enchanting music.
- Brass Ensemble – bold, brassy sounds at the Overlook Stage
- Jazz Ensemble – smooth grooves in the grassy area between Feta and Goodwood
- Violin Duo – upbeat, pop-inspired selections on the courthouse lawn at the Loophole light show, with lights dancing to the music
- Wind Ensemble – lively favorites at the corner of the Convention Center and Locust Street.
- Harp – soothing and peaceful melodies in RiverPark Center’s Atmos Courtyard, part of the Tranquility Garden installation.
- Piano Man – soulful piano performances with interactive lights under the trees in McConnell Plaza
“We are thrilled to unveil Illuminate for everyone to experience October 3 – 5,” said said Tim Ross, Director of Public Events for the City of Owensboro. “On opening night, Friday, October 3, we are honored to partner with the Owensboro Symphony for their annual Symphony Stroll to add the magic of their incredibly talented musicians to the atmosphere throughout the event.”
The Symphony Stroll and Illuminate Art & Light Experience are both free and open to the public, making it an ideal way to enjoy the vibrancy of downtown Owensboro while celebrating the arts.
