Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, Alex Krew began his musical studies at the age of five after a string quartet visited his kindergarten. After telling his parents he wanted to play the cello, he was enrolled at the Peabody Conservatory’s Preparatory Division, studying with Bai-Chi Chen and Alison Wells. After graduating with his Pre-Conservatory Certification, Alex went on to attend Vanderbilt University on a full-tuition Cornelius Vanderbilt Merit Scholarship. There, he studied with Felix Wang, double-majoring in music performance and economics while earning his MBA. He received his Master of Music from Indiana University’s Jacob’s School of Music, studying with Eric Kim. Summers have taken Alex to some of the world’s finest music festivals, including Aspen, YellowBarn, Bowdoin, and Music Masters Course Japan in Yokohama. He currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee where he is a highly sought-after session player and a member of the Nashville Music Scoring Orchestra. Alex’s playing can be heard on countless critically-acclaimed soundtracks for movies, video games, and television, including God of War, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Halo Infinite, Netflix’s Lost in Space, and Sony PlayStation’s Spider Man series. Alex also serves as principal cellist of the Jackson Symphony and is a frequent substitute with Nashville Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, and New World Symphony in Miami Beach.
