Erina Buchholz is a violinist currently pursuing a Performer’s Diploma at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with Alexander Kerr and Joel Smirnoff. She also graduated from IU with her Bachelor of Music in violin performance in 2022 as a Herman B Wells Scholar, studying with Kevork Mardirossian. Erina has performed as a soloist with the Gulf Coast Steinway Society Orchestra (Mobile, AL), Acadiana Symphony (Lafayette, LA), and Louisiana Youth Orchestra (Baton Rouge, LA). Before her appointment in 2023 as the concertmaster of the Terre Haute Symphony, she served in the orchestra as principal second violin for two seasons. She is also a section violinist in the Owensboro Symphony. Erina was previously the assistant concertmaster of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and a member of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. She holds prizes from the Music Teachers’ National Association Competition, Gulf Coast Steinway Society Competition, and New Orleans ChamberFest. She has performed in masterclasses for Christian Altenburger, Midori Goto, Itamar Zorman, Régis Pasquier, Vadim Gluzman, Mauricio Fuks, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Martin Wulfhorst, and Ettore Causa, among others. An avid chamber musician, Erina has greatly benefitted from coachings with members of the Pacifica, Brooklyn Rider, and Harlem quartets, duo526 (Kerry DuWors and Futaba Niekawa), and many others. She has attended the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Madeline Island Chamber Music, Domaine Forget, Orford Music, International Violin Akademie Saar, and the Ferme de Villefavard Summer Music Academy.
