Eric Louie joined the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra in 2015, serving as Assistant Principal Bassoon and Contrabassoon. He also is the Principal Bassoon for the Southwest Ohio Philharmonic Orchestra, Acting Principal Bassoon with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and Contrabassoonist of Columbus Indiana Philharmonic.
He also regularly performs with ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, Louisville Orchestra, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic, West Virginia Symphony, Orchestra Iowa, Cincinnati Ballet, and Evansville Philharmonic.
Eric previously was a contrabassoon fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School and served as co-principal bassoonist with Ohio Light Opera.
Eric holds an Artist Diploma and Master of Music from The University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Akron. His major teachers include Barrick Stees, William Winstead, Martin James, and Per Hannevold.
